WIGAN postal workers are to go on strike after a resounding ‘yes’ vote for the national dispute.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) today hailed the 76 per cent ballot result in favour of industrial action as a “huge vote of no confidence” in management.
They claim that management have “never really” engaged in genuine negotiation over modernisation but have instead been running down the business, services and cutting costs at the expense of workers terms and conditions.
The unions executive will now meet to decide what structure any walkout will take.
